Montana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Award
The Montana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recently
was selected as the winner of the AAP 2014 Outstanding Small Chapter Award
at the annual meeting in Chicago.
“This is a really great accomplishment for our chapter,” said
vice president of MT AAP Pepper Henyon, MD, of Bozeman Deaconess Pediatrics.
“This national recognition validates the great work we are doing
around the state. Over the last few years the chapter has made great strides
in working with the approximately 100 pediatricians across the state to
develop programs which help them deliver excellent care to their patients
as well as improve the health of children in Montana.”
The MT APP’s efforts have focused on improving the numbers of children
who are vaccinated, providing education to health care providers on child
abuse, developing regional child abuse response teams across the state
and advocating at the state legislature for laws that improve the health
and safety for Montana children.
The nomination was based on the chapter’s excellence in:
• Strategic Priorities
• Activities (influencing education and participation of other health
related organizations in advocacy efforts for children)
• Membership Retention & Recruitment
• Governance & Development of chapter leadership
