Bozeman Deaconess to offer Health Screening Day

Bozeman Deaconess Hospital is pleased to announce a new health event for the Gallatin Valley—the community Health Screening Day. The Health Screening Day will be held Saturday, April 26 from 7 am–1 pm on the hospital's medical campus. Health professionals will offer laboratory screenings, blood pressure readings, bone density testing, glucose finger sticks, foot screenings, body mass index measurement, pulse oximetry testing and hearing and vision checks.
The Health Screening Day will focus on the many screenings that will best benefit the health of the people in our community. According to Connie Martin, Marketing Communications Manager, "Our goal is to offer Health Screening Day several times a year so those who aren't able to attend the spring event will have additional opportunities throughout the year."
Laboratory screens will be available from 7 am-11 am. Please remember to fast for 12-14 hours before your blood draw. Although most of the screenings are free, there is a charge for laboratory screening, which are offered at a greatly reduced price. Payment is accepted in cash, checks and major credit cards.
· Colon cancer screens ($7.50)
· Comprehensive chemistry screening panels ($27)
· C-reactive protein screens ($14)
· Prostate specific antigen-PSA ($17)
· Hemoglobin A1C ($17)
· Homocysteine ($17)
In addition to laboratory screenings, participants will be able to determine if they're at risk for falls by taking a balance/posture test provided by physical therapists; free mental health screening assessments will be offered and participants will receive immediate confidential feedback; and Body Mass Index (BMI) testing is available.
Martin says information about sleep disorders, infertility, breast health and self-exams, end-of-life issues and community CPR classes will also be available. Synergy Medical Spa will offer free chair massages and provide information about spa services.
Bozeman Deaconess partners, including the United Way of Greater Gallatin County and The Wellness Community–Montana, will be on hand to offer early childhood advice and support and information for people with cancer.
Participants can also take the opportunity to take a "behind the scenes" tour of our newly integrated Bozeman Deaconess Cancer Center (at 9:30 am); our Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (at 10:00 am) and tour the new state-of-the-art Laboratory Services (11:30 am).
Health Screening Day will also feature 20-minute healthy cooking demonstrations by nutrition services staff.
