Visitor Restrictions No Longer in Effect at Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital

Hospital news | Tuesday, April 16, 2019

Contact: Lauren Brendel, M.S.

UPDATE: Effective today, April 16, 2019, visitor restrictions for inpatient units at Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital have been removed. Throughout the past three weeks, Deaconess Hospital has seen the number of influenza cases steadily decreasing. The restrictions were implemented to help prohibit the spread of flu within the hospital.

We do ask that anyone experiencing mild cold or flu symptoms refrain from visiting the hospital until their symptoms have resolved. Influenza is highly contagious and can be a major cause of acute bronchitis and pneumonia. The best defense against the flu is immunization and frequent hand washing.

We appreciate the community's cooperation and understanding as we care for our patients and work to help keep our community healthy.

ORIGINAL CONTENT: As of 8 a.m. today (Feb 22, 2019), visitor restrictions for inpatient units at Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital are in effect due to the influenza virus (the flu). People with symptoms of upper respiratory infection (cough, runny or stuffed nose) or fever, along with children under the age of 12, are asked to refrain from visiting patients that are hospitalized. This does not affect the emergency department or registration.

Visitor restrictions are put in place when flu transmission is consistently high in the community. Visitor restrictions help us control the spread of the flu virus in the hospital. The flu is highly contagious and can be a major cause of acute bronchitis and pneumonia.

The best defense against the flu is immunization and frequent hand washing. Staying home if you experience flu or flu-like systems helps prevent the flu from being passed to others.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we care for our patients and work to help keep our community healthy. We will notify the public when visitor restrictions are lifted.
