Dr. Reisig has experience caring for recreational to professional athletes, having been team physician for high schools, Wake Forest University, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and a semi-professional hockey team. He also has covered events including professional cycling, Ironman triathlon, and amateur rodeo. He has expertise and interest in non-operative treatment of sports related conditions and enjoys working with patients, parents, surgeons, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and coaching staff to return active individuals to do what they enjoy as quickly and safely as possible.
Karl Reisig, MD, joined Bozeman Health Belgrade Clinic in 2018. He received a master's and bachelor's in biomedical engineering from Drexel University. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. Dr. Reisig completed family medicine residency in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with Penn Medicine-Lancaster General Health and a primary care sports medicine fellowship with Wake Forest University/Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He is board certified in family medicine and eligible for a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine.
Karl was born in Rochester, NY where early on he gained an appreciation for the outdoors and learned the importance of hard work and serving others. During residency he met his wife and they are excited to live in Montana and enjoy their hobbies of fishing, hiking, snowboarding, and cycling. He has spent time in rural Alaska and Colorado caring for patients, and in Yosemite National Park studying wilderness medicine.
